Concealer in a Jar

NYX Concealer in a Jar website description: A moisture-rich, emollient formula designed to conceal discoloration, dark circles, and blemishes. Applied with a brush, the concentrated concealer goes on like a dream, is non-comedogenic, and provides medium to heavy coverage. The Concealer Jar will last a long time. My opinion: I think it works best for covering acne, acne scars, and blemishes in general, because it’s quite “heavy” for under-eye circles and tends to crease. I apply it with the ELF Blending Eye Brush because it blends very well on problem areas and looks great once I apply foundation over it.

Books Based on Themes

As for those who do not know me, I am actually a reader who would like variety in her reading life. But sometime in the middle of this year, I decided to read books based on Themes. Actually it started in March, when I decided to read books that has one-word titles. What I mean is, the title of the books I've read contains only one line. So I called it March One-Liners. Like for examples: Beastly, Shiver, Neverwhere, Flipped, Ingo, and others like that. Then in June, my book theme was June Fantasy; so I read books about dragons, witches, knights, faeries and even aliens. Here are the books I've read during that month: Eragon - About dragons. Lament - Self explanatory. The Summer Country / Avalon High - Both are Arthurian stories. Peter and the Starcatchers - Peter Pan. Stranger in a Strange Land - Alien from Mars. Cloaked - A fairytale (about Frog Prince). In July, I tagged that month as July Book-to-Films because most of the books I've read were made into movies. Red Riding Hood. A Bend in the Road. City of Ember. The Lovely Bones and The Golden Compass.

Themes

August was more of the Narrative Mode month, where the narrator is the actual character in the story. To explain better;  the story is relayed by a narrator who is also a character within the story, so that the narrator reveals the plot by referring to this viewpoint character as "I". Example of the books I've read where the storyteller is always the first-person: Careful What You Wish For, Would You, Simmer Down, The Manolo Matrix, Shadowland, Red Blooded Murder and Winter Rose. And last month, my theme was simple: September Chick-Lit; a genre fiction which addresses issues of modern womanhood, often humorously and lightheartedly. Those I really enjoyed were:  Love The One You're With, Remember Me, Spying In High Heels, Who's That Girl & LA Candy. For this month, I call it October Duos, where I'm gonna read either anthologies, bundles or those that has Book 1 & Book 2. I've already started with Irish Girls About Town,  and have started the 2 Darkwing Chronicles (Beyond The Pale & Past Redemption.) Hopefully next week, I'll be able to start the Riley Bloom series (Radiance & Shimmer) and then the Donovan Legacies (by Nora Roberts). Oh this is gonna be an exciting month. Hope I would be able to stay true to my themed reading. Have a nice weekend everyone!

The Princess Bride

I still enjoyed reading a good book once in a while, after I've gotten an idea about the story of course. Yet, I was disappointed because the funny lines were'nt there. Inconceivable! The story of Princess Buttercup and her true love Westley and their adventures is fun, of course, and wonderfully whimsical and inventive, but it has less heart than the movie version. Okay enough of the comparison. Overall, I'll just say that The Princess Bride is one of the most romantic stories ever written and definitely the most charming! It made me realize about the saying, "You don't know what 'true love' is until you lose it." And then you'll want to give up everything just to have it back with you for any fraction of a second. Best part of the film which I didn't find in the book: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die! My rating for The princess bride is 3 bookmarks out of 5 bookmarks.

The Last Vacation

Unfortunately it wasn't a just go away and relax vacation. It was be there for someone else vacation. I did get out of town. I did meet lots of people who were strangers to me. Spent some quality time with those I am close to. And on and on. I am sure you get the gist of my very vague post. Being out of my usual comfort zone gave me some thinking time too. Time that I was able to reflect on things going on in my head and in my heart. I can honestly say I really have no desire right now to be dealing with these things in my head or in my heart. I would so much rather just be having fun and enjoying all of my life right now. I gave some thought to this blog. I want it to be a little something more than just erotic writing. I know so many come by just to read those stories, and I truly hope I have written them well enough to be given the honor of read all the way through by lots and lots of people who have never commented (and all of it is in addition to all of my wonderful commentors to this blog).

Vacation

I took a little vacation. Not that anyone really needed an explanation for my absence. But there it is. I am choosing not to advertise when I go on vacation. Someone I know did that, and while they were on vacation, they got robbed. True story, it really does happen. But now that I am back, I am happy to report that I took a vacation.

Another busy Week

I've found in retirement anything out of the routine schedule seems much bigger than before my retirement. I hate that. I'm going to have to clean my bathroom and dust in the same day and I feel pressured. We have company arriving tomorrow from Wichita Falls, TX and Denver. I thought they were arriving on Wednesday but I was wrong. They're arriving on Tuesday, thus the pressure. We're going to see if we can cool off those Texans. I'm a little disappointed that it looks like temperatures will be in the low eighties. I would have preferred high seventies, but I suppose when you've been having temperatures well over one hundred for days on end the low eighties will be fine. They're in such a drought in Texas they will enjoy seeing how green things are in Oregon. Even though we've been here seven years I never tire of seeing the beautiful hanging baskets everywhere you go here. They're so refreshing. This is a picture I made last summer but I don't have time this morning to run out and make new ones. Remember, I have to clean the bathroom and dust today. On Main street in our town they have double hangers on the lamp posts with two of these hanging on each post. How about petunias in August? Have a good week. I probably won't be around until after my company leaves on Friday.

Health Condition

As far as my health has gone, I have my good days and I have my bad days. I just take it in stride. I know that my body is fully capable of healing itself and so I am just eating healthy, taking herbs and supplements and trying to get enough rest. And of course being in the sunshine with my garden helps too.

People are Amazing to Me

It is amazing to me when tragedy happens you really learn who is a take and who is a giver. I am sure some of you remember the Photo Album lady. Well my friend and I who she sued... my friend's husband is the one who passed away. It amazes me that someone can sue you for something as silly as a photo album but then think it isn't going to affect the friendship with those she sued. I won't go into more detail b/c I know she stalks this blog. Just dumb founded at #1. Why would you use your friends and #2. Why you would think that your now non friends aren't going to be upset with you. I shake my head while I type this b/c I am in shock over the illogical thinking. Then with my friends baby getting hurt I really learned who is a giver... I also learned this year that two people who I have known my entire life and who have known my family for 40 plus years are not so nice people. That was crushing. It is probably jealously...

I can't come up with why anyone would act in the manner those two have. I guess the Green Monster got the best of them. It is a hard reality when people you trust are so awful. For example the foster home who gave away the dog I was allowing them to keep and lied about not knowing how everything worked with the rescue and is the one that was behind the fact that the dog was not returned. Just amazing to me the lies that come out of people's mouths. I think maybe they tell the lies so much they believe them? The strange thing about all this is looking back... I knew she was a liar. I just thought being and adult and having a child maybe she had grown out of the liar stage... I didn't know her as a child / teenage but you know how you just get a feeling about someone. I should have known better.

Puppy Help!

I just received an email that a women has a lab / boxer mix female and a male boxer neither are fixed and yesterday the female gave birth to 11 puppies. The women didn't know the dog was pregnant. Clearly someone needs to tell her where babies come from! So now I am looking for an emergency foster for 11 puppies and a mom. Help!

Easy Diet Tips

So its officially 2014 and most of us ladies kick start our year with the new years resolution that we're going to diet. Sadly there are statistics that show those who start their diets on the 1st of January fail however if you start on the 14th / 15th of January you are more likely to succeed with your weight loss plan. I have always been battling with my weight and I have tried every diet that I have read about in magazines. No carbs, maple syrup, soup only... yeah I lost weight quickly but it all comes back on as quickly as I lost it! I'm now just choosing to eat what I want but watching my portion sizes and snacks. I am a big snack lover! I cannot say no to a pack of crisps lol So here are some tips that I have learnt along the way which I have found to be really good when dieting: You must have breakfast whether its just a piece of fruit. Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day so if you want a fry up have it for breakfast and be really good throughout the day; If you're hungry drink some water.
www.weightshapes.com
Water fills you up and it's good for you bonus. Alex Curran swears by taking a Sea Kelp supplement to stop her cravings during the day. You take 1 tablet before a meal and its meant to help you feel full quickly too. I take them and I think they work well. Nip+Fab do amazing creams for different target areas. I love the Tummy Fix and the Cellulite Fix creams. They help to tone the skin which is a lot easier than an hour down the gym; Green tea. I have always loved green tea and its great cleanser for your body. One cup in the morning will help to boost your metabolism and act as an antioxidant. Sniff vanilla. Smelling vanilla is proven to suppress your appetite so keep a tissue with vanilla drops in your handbag at all times; Eat apples. They will fill you up and they practically have no calories as your body works hard to digest the apple skin making it a free snack; Scrub scrub scrub. When you use a body scrub you are helping the blood circulation in your body so the more you scrub the healthier your skin looks and fatty tissues becomes less visible.

Saturday Shorts

This sort of goes with the month of November and October / Halloween thing. I Remember Stupid Things. Aunt Mable? Like when Aunt Mable lost her face, and how we got on hands and knees, but couldn't find it anyplace. And how she goes without a nose, how on her head there's just a hat. And it's all true, I swear. For I remember stupid things like that. Enjoy your weekend - no matter what the weather. Happy Sweetest Day to all you Sweeties!

A Granville Pit Stop Continues

There is also a really cute ice cream parlor a few doors down from the Green Velvet. Where we had a cup of raspberry brownie swirl ice cream to cool off with. Oh yes, we did eat lunch before hand at Greek Eats. And I have to say that they served the best gyro and french fries to date! Once we were all Grandvilled out we headed onward to my ex's parents. And along the way we passed this amazing structure. As far as I know to date the Longaberger Basket Building is the largest basket in the world. I believe this is their corporate head quarters. So yes, what a cool office building to go to work in. My daughter gets a kick out of it every time she sees it. Plus if we are going this way she knows she is almost to her grandparents house. And some where in between all that traveling we stopped at a Jo-Ann's too. I ended up buying the trio marking ruler set (with 50% off coupon) and two more. 25 yards of DS Designs fabric. I only need one more colorway from that collection and I will be happy as a lark to be done buying it. Maybe not, I might pick up the greens and blues to make something for my daughter. In the end a crazy little trip went okay and my daughter was safely delivered to her grandparents. Thank you mom for tagging along but next time I am driving!

A Granville Pit Stop

From the look of the picture it looks like any other small American town right? Well in retrospect it is. The reason why I was here is because I volunteered to take my daughter to her grandparents house (they live 2 1/2 hours away from us) and since I have not gotten a chance to do much with my daughter this summer or go any where for that fact. I made this trip; a trip to stretch out a 2.5 drive into an adventure. I had asked my ex's mom if there was anything to do in their neck of the woods that was a simple stop along the way and she did suggest a few places but they were not jiving with what I had in mind. So she mentioned this little town and little did I realize that it is home to one of the biggest designers in the fabric/sewing/quilting world. Yep, what I thought would be a cute little town to see quaint shops and have lunch at is also the hometown of Amy Butler of Amy Butler Designs. This folks is Granville, Ohio and it is such a lovely little town! As I was looking up of what to do and see in Granville, I was very surprised to see at the top of the list was Amy Butler Designs. So yes, I was thrilled to see if this was Amy's personal store. Well let me tell ya its not, matter of fact there was no sign on the building. From what I could tell it looked like someone's home/personal studio. So please don't go barging down on the door! But I did find a store called the Green Velvet that carried a few of Amy's fabrics and patterns. Well, you cannot stop in on Amy Butler's hometown and not buy something of hers, right? Oh, my daughter picked out the fabric here. I am trying to figure out what to make of it.

Quilter's Start Your Wordless Wednesday!

Wordless Wednesday, a photo by Gable House Sewing By Jennifer O. on Flickr. I know its Tuesday but... Yep that right! When you seriously have nothing to write about but have a ton of pictures stored about and want to share them. Well, now you can! Not that you could not do this before but hey why not on Wednesday. I am not the first one to start this here in blogland but I thought I just take it up an own on promoting a Quilter's Wordless Wednesday! I say, why not! We have a W.I.P (Work In Progress) Wednesday. Lets face it I know summer is more than half way over but still most of us are not really working on anything at the moment. So why not show off what we really are doing and let the pictures do all the talking. Besides if your readers really what to know the story behind the cartoon pictures they can ask right? Not to mention its also good way to connect with your readers too! So here are the rules! Yes, there are rules but they are easy to follow!

Quilter's Wordless Wednesday Rules. Since I am assuming that we all are mature enough to know that any form of porn, violence and so on is bad. No one really wants to see it so please keep photos clean! Its no crime to show of family, friends, pets, nature, oddities, and oh yes, your own quilts! How are well going to keep being inspired if we don't see other quilter's work! Good humor is more than welcome! Along with really adorable moments and those moments of amazement or Ah ha too! Try to keep it at the most 10 photos per post. And if you must and I must post more go to FotoFlexer.com which is free to use. (No I am not sponsored by them or promoting them!) Can make yourself a colleague like this one I ended up using for my Memorial Day post. Okay so now you know those are the rules! Now go have some fun! Who knows you might find your inner photographer!

Simple Things

Hi everyone! Just wanted to post that I have been doing some work around here. It's small and simple stuff but lets face it its summer and I can get into the heavier stuff in the winter. That and my computer keeps flipping out on me cause of the hot weather. So here is what I have in the works: A McCall's apron. Which I have made one before but in different colors. Here is the close up of the materials used for this apron. I think it looks better far away then close up. I have finished a few pot pinchers. The pattern is by Vanilla House Designs. They are a great stash buster item to make. Plus the are super easy to do too! As you can see I have quite a few more to work on to keep me busy  for a while. That is all I have for now. I hope everyone is doing well out there! Take care now!

Prelude to my Weekend

Calgon take me away, oh wait I meant Cabernet sauvignon :) I was coming home from work, stopped at the red light and was about to turn right and felt my tire hit the curb, two seconds later I pull over to a side street and get out and hear loud hissing. I had a two inch gash in my tire. So I pull over get out my spare and start thinking "I don't know how to change a tire". Oh I watched my husband do it but never attempted it on my own. So I call my dh and luckily he only works down the street. When he came over we noticed another lady with a flat tire too, coincidence? She comes walking over and asks if I got my flat truing right at the corner, I reply right away "yes" turns out there is a huge hunk of metal sticking out from the curb from when there was some work done on a building on that corner. It gashed her tire too and she had a baby in the car. She took pictures of both our tires and the metal in the street, she is going to email me the photos. She called the police to file a complaint. A police officer came but didn't speak to either of us. We were told by the dispacther he just checked the curb wrote a report and left. When she was leaving she said there was a reporter...

I am guessing from the local newspaper, doing a report on a similar story. So hopefully we hear something from either the city of the company in charge of the construction, because I wonder how many other people have had this happen to them. I don't normally go around running into curbs, so the metal piece had to be pretty out there. So Monday morning I guess I will be putting done a chunk of change for a new tire. And to top it off I come home to an army of ants taking over my bathroom. I Heard that if you spray Windex over the trail is disrupts their scent trail, needless to say I have the most sparkly clean bathrooms walls and counter tops anyone west of the Rockies, lol. Until I call the manager to get the ant man here I will be taking on these pesky buggers myself, anyone have any tried and true ways to combat them without harsh chemicals, cant take the smell. The Windex by the way smells lovely. Wish me luck that my weekend goes smoother than today, thankfully nothing really serious happened like an accident of major damage to my tire. Just my luck!
